Art Pharmacy is proud to announce that our public art project at Rosebery Engine Yards, created in collaboration with Goodman and artist Patrizia Biondi, has been recognised with three major architectural awards.
In 2024, Art Pharmacy was engaged to commission a public artwork that aligned with the broader architectural vision of adaptive reuse at Rosebery Engine Yards. This site, once a hub of industrial activity, has been thoughtfully reimagined into a dynamic commercial and retail precinct. Architectural highlights such as the soaring sawtooth ceilings, exposed brickwork, and retained timber framework celebrate the building’s heritage while supporting its new purpose.
To complement this revitalisation, Art Pharmacy curated an art narrative titled Engine Yards Reshaped, centring on a contemporary interpretation of the site’s industrial past. The result was Timber Tapestries – Stories Carved in Grain, a large-scale public sculpture by Patrizia Biondi, crafted from reclaimed materials salvaged from the site itself.

Lord Mayor’s Prize
Announced in June 2025, the Australian Institute of Architects’ 2025 NSW Architecture awards (AIA NSW Awards) announced that the Rosebery Engine’s Yard project was the winner of the Lord Mayor’s Prize, celebrating Art Pharmacy’s role in blending contemporary art with heritage to transform a historic industrial site into a vibrant community hub. The Lord Mayor’s Prize is awarded annually to an outstanding architectural or urban design project in the City of Sydney, spotlighting work that truly enriches the city’s public realm. Rosebery Engine Yards showcase creative heritage adaptation and urban transformation that both respect history and propel civic life forward.
National Trust Heritage Awards
Adding to this momentum, the large-scale installation created in partnership with Goodman has been shortlisted for the 2025 National Trust (NSW) Heritage Awards in the Architecture category, alongside other brilliant heritage projects. The National Trust (NSW) Heritage Awards
celebrate outstanding contributions to heritage conservation across New South Wales. In the Architecture category, projects are recognised for being “sympathetic to the heritage significance of a place or complement and utilise existing built heritage, including adaptive reuse or new work in historic contexts.” (National Trust)
World Architecture Festival
We’re proud that Rosebery Engine Yards has been selected as a finalist at the 2025 World Architecture Festival under the Completed Buildings – Creative Reuse category. The World Architecture Festival celebrates excellence in built architecture globally. The Completed Buildings – Creative Reuse category honours projects that transform old buildings or infrastructure into new, functional spaces-preserving heritage, reducing waste, and giving structures a fresh purpose. Timber Tapestries and the broader Rosebery Engine Yards project exemplify sustainable reuse and architectural ingenuity on the world stage.
