High above Sydney’s CBD, a new workplace art collection has taken shape, transforming two levels of a contemporary office into a living gallery.
Art Pharmacy collaborated closely with the design team to create an environment that embraces belonging, creativity and global connection. The workplace unfolds as a series of cultural journeys, each room carrying its own atmosphere shaped by artworks that reflect memory, heritage, humour and the emotional textures of daily life.
The collection spans painting, textile-inspired works, digital compositions, murals, sculptural interventions, botanical studies, gold foiled pieces and vibrant abstractions, forming a layered experience that enriches the rhythm of the workday.
Curatorial Approach: Intertwined
The curatorial direction is guided by the theme Intertwined, a concept drawn from regional weaving traditions across the Asia Pacific. Woven forms such as cloths, mats and baskets hold stories of lineage and community, and here they act as a metaphor for the networks, relationships and systems that connect people across distance.
The artworks echo this idea of interwoven narratives. Some rooms feature delicate textile references and intricate patterning, while others explore digital light, motion and data through contemporary visual languages. Tactile works with gold leaf, collage and layered pigment introduce warmth and luminosity, and murals and sculptural installations give the collection scale and movement.
Together, the works create a balance between intimacy and openness. They act as portals into different cultural sensibilities, while maintaining a unified sense of care, curiosity and hospitality.
Site Overview
The workplace spans two upper levels and accommodates local teams alongside visiting international colleagues. Each level expresses a distinctive mood, one shaped by the dynamism of Sydney’s urban energy and the other influenced by the calm expanse of Australia’s coastal landscapes. Meeting rooms draw their names from iconic fabrics and weaving styles found across the Asia Pacific, reinforcing the narrative through subtle cues in language and spatial identity.
Outcome
The completed collection has transformed this Sydney office into a warm, inspiring and inclusive environment. Murals, paintings, digital works, sculptural interventions and fabric inspired pieces enrich the atmosphere and bring a sense of humanity to daily working life.
Every artwork contributes to a broader narrative of connection between people, places, technologies and cultures. The collection is not an aesthetic layer added to the architecture, but an integral part of how the workplace feels and functions.
