Flour Mills, Summer Hill
This work is part of a series influenced by my life in the middle of Sydney interpreting the gritty textures and mood of city streets and buildings that often provide layers of history. The Flour Mills at Summer Hill are an icon of inner west Sydney. I was drawn to their dramatic shapes on the skyline visible from the trainline and surrounding roads. The mills were operated commercially from 1922. Laying dormant for sometime - the area is currently being transformed into luxury apartments.
