Long-time standing client Goodman asked for our art expertise to facilitate a large 10 metre wall inside Stepping Stone House’s new location, in collaboration with artist Michael Black.
Stepping Stone's new space was donated by Goodman to support the organisation in their mission to combat youth homelessness in Sydney. Art Pharmacy joined forces to bring it to life by donating a creative addition, a colourful wall mural.
The organisation provides a safe place for children and young people at risk or experiencing homelessness so they can begin to heal, build resilience, create connections and become the very best they can be. The organisation is a dedicated community, providing long-term accommodation and support for young people aged 12 – 24 years old.
The 10m mural is centrally located in the kids hang-out zone, so it was important that we nailed it.
The rough brief was to include something with Stepping Stone's signature orange but really, the artist was invited to go wild with colours.
We were excited to invite Michael Black, who joined Art Pharmacy online gallery recently, to work with us. And the result was incredible. Black took on the wall with his iconic style, bold warm colours and dynamic and expressive compositions that create a sense of movement. He is inspired by discovered landscapes, encountered people, and personal experiences responding to subjects with an aim to capture the raw essence and beauty of a moment.
A big thank you to Porters Paints, Alexandria, who donated the paints and for continuing to support art projects that help facilitate community growth and not-for-profit initiatives.
