We were approached by QIC to design creative hoarding across 3 levels within Castle Towers, “championing local Sydney artists” throughout the centre to create an “art show” within the centre.
Castle Towers framed the series of hoardings as “A Moment In Time” in which the centre intended to brighten the day of their shoppers with carefully curated art, all while keeping creativity and community vitality at the forefront during their renovations.
Level 1 is the fresh food section and had the largest amount of hoarding needed. An artist was to create a design that reflected this in a fun, bright, engaging way. This level consists of work by Isabelle Robison, an up and coming graphic designer, originally from Margaret River WA. Her design is a fun, food-centric pattern comprised of delicate food illustrations and restaurant imagery. It reflected the “exciting development changes taking place at the centre” and the marketplace vibe of Castle Towers’ fresh food level.
On level 2 and level 3, Gabby Malpas reimagined her delicate water colour paintings to create a finished product of a lavish series of hoardings that featured many floral patterns and traditional Chinese imagery. Gabby is a New Zealand / Australian artist who is proudly Chinese, and explores this in her artistic practice.
