We curated a collection of artworks by Australian art muralists across staff floors of Deloitte’s newly built Melbourne office. Each artist was carefully selected based on their aesthetic response to four unique staff floor themes: storytelling, numbers, rethink and catalyst. The resulting collection offers is a broad program of artistic styles and techniques from a range of prominent Australian artists.
Working closely with the Deloitte interiors team, Art Pharmacy were responsible for gaining concept approvals with multiple client stakeholders and coordinating a complex install of 12 murals across 10 staff floors. We collaborated with Deloitte building teams to ensure a smooth installation of murals in conjunction with the installation of our major art collection on levels 30 and 31. The murals are aimed to inspire curiosity, innovation and play in the Deloitte Melbourne teams who use these spaces.
Melbourne-based artist Buff Diss responded to the themes of “Numbers” and “Rethink.” Drawing on his university education in mathematics, Buff created designs that explored famous equations and concepts: the Fibonacci strip, infinity, and a data representation of a supernova explosion pulsar (made famous by the Joy Division album cover). Adelaide-based artist Fortrose responded to the theme “Rethink” by using limited colour palettes and geometric forms to create complex imagery. His abstract references to movement and flow encourage an environment for testing ideas and pushing conceptual boundaries.
Jasmine Mansbridge worked with a bright colour palette and paired back compositions to respond to the theme of “Numbers”. Minna Leunig’s distinct playful style can be found on “Storytelling” floors, she drew inspiration from Australian native animals: the dingo and the cassowary from the Daintree rainforest. Liam Snootle created an impressive sense of depth in his “Numbers” floor mural, using a paired back colour palette and crisp lines. Indigenous artist David Cragg created flocks of birds in natural Victorian environments on “Storytelling” and “Catalyst” floors to celebrate the traditional environment upon which this office sits.
