Art Pharmacy’s latest long term Creative Placemaking project – a year-long program of digital art in the lobby of 9 Hunter Street, Sydney.
Art Pharmacy have just completed an exciting commission at a newly refurbished lobby on Hunter Street in Sydney’s centre. Melbourne-based artist Chris Golden developed four seasonal digital concepts for a large screen in the seated area of The Grounds Cafe. His dreamlike landscapes are an abstract twist on natural scenes, and subtle movement creates a sense of peering through the screen into another dimension.
We worked with the client to establish a firm brief, and presented a selection of up and coming Australian digital artists to suit the intention of the space. The aim was to create a send of ambiance and relaxation in the space, which would be frequented by tenants of the building and cafe patrons. Chris Golden is an artist exploring the nuance of peace and the vibration of this world. His work focuses on synthesizing the meditative quality of Psychedelia — presenting an expressive tranquil existence in the forms of physical and digital projects. The focus of his expansive practice made him a perfect fit for 9 Hunter, and four of his existing works “Floral Dimension”, “Bloom”, “Tree Plaza” and “New Species” were adapted and colour adjusted to create a year long program of season content for the lobby screen.
