After the burgeoning success of their curated corporate art collection in Melbourne, Deloitte has once again engaged Art Pharmacy to commission a series of works for their new offices in Parramatta Square.
The art collection was guided by Deloitte Digital’s narrative, ‘Texture of our Weave’, which sees the area of Parramatta as a textured fabric of people, ideas, beliefs and histories. For Deloitte, Parramatta is a colourful weave, a shared identity that is both strong and comforting. This narrative reflects on difference, celebrating the fact that we all bring our own thread, spanning our unique past and our collective future.
Taking note of this narrative, Art Pharmacy strategised that the artists commissioned for this corporate collection should be hopeful and curious – unafraid to play, imagine and experiment, while equally staying grounded in a multi-generational appreciation of hard work, humility and gratitude.
The art strategy noted that the art should tell a colourful story of culture, history and Country in celebration of Deloitte’s collective identity as inherently diverse. Further, alongside the new renovations of the iconic 8 Parramatta Square building, Art Pharmacy sought to integrate the corporate art collection with the design of the space and inspire a strong community feel and sense of belonging in the building.
Through a process of sourcing, long lists and short lists, Deloitte selected five artists local to the Western Sydney region to commission five innovative and multidimensional artworks, as well as two local Darug artists to commission two bespoke carpets for the communal spaces based on ideas of place, Country and gathering. This project also involved the curation of six existing artworks from Deloitte’s art collection as well as four artwork acquisitions for the upper floor.
Deloitte was extremely pleased with the end result, lauding the sense of community and diversity that the collection brought to the new office spaces. Telling a strong story of culture and place, while celebrating the quintessential story and values of Deloitte, this corporate art collection will continue to inspire and engage for decades to come.
